Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.
Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
